Addis Ababa: Managing the Regional Risks of Climate Extremes and Disasters – Learning from the IPCC Special Report

This event is part of a series of briefings that will seek to publicize the findings of the IPCC Special Report SREX to policy makers, practitioners and private sector audiences. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) prepared a Special Report titled “Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters for Advancing Climate Change Adaptation” (SREX), and launched the report's Summary for Policy Makers on 18 November 2011, with the full report released in hard copy in March 2012. To follow up on this report, the IPCC, the Overseas Development Institute, Norway’s Climate and Pollution Agency, Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network are working with local counterparts to support a programme of regional outreach events. This event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is invitation only. Speakers will include IPCC authors and invited guests from the East African region.
