2-6 October 2023 Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Adaptation Futures 2023

The seventh Adaptation Futures Conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, industry representatives, and communicators to: present their work on adaptation; share expertise, skills, and experience; and build an active adaptation network.

The Conference aims to learn from voices in climate change adaptation research, policies, practices, and actions around the world to accelerate the adoption of transformative adaptation for long-term resilience. Conference themes will focus on Indigenous and local knowledge from the perspectives of dealing with multiple risks, making adaptation choices and managing trade-offs, identifying where we can no longer adapt, exploring equity and justice in adaptation, discussing the power of nature for climate action, teaching and learning adaptation in a changing climate, and identifying options for inclusive adaptation governance and finance.

The Government of Canada and the World Adaptation Science Program (WASP) will host the event. The biennial Conference is the flagship event of the WASP, one of the four components of the World Climate Programme. The Forum will follow a hybrid format, taking place on site, with options for virtual participation.
