Adaptation Committee Workshop: Fostering Engagement of the Agri-Food Sector in Resilience to Climate Change

Given the links between food security, trade and the need to adapt to climate change in the agri-food sector, the event will focus on how stakeholders can work towards fostering the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to adapt to climate change. It aims at bringing together practitioners, experts and researchers in an interactive setting, designed to provide inspiration by presenting innovative solutions, foster the exchange and connections between participants and transfer knowledge.

The event is organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the UNFCCC Secretariat, under the guidance of the Adaptation Committee. It will address the climate resilience of the agri-food sector through three thematic plenary sessions and accompanying mini workshops and open labs: 1) assessing climate risks in the agri-food sector and preparing adaptation strategies; 2) implementing adaptation strategies, with a focus on SMEs, in the agri-food sector through accessing finance, technology, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and capacity building; and 3) designing policies and incentives for private sector investment in adaptation, including for formulating and implementing National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement on climate change.
