7th Africa Water Week

The seventh edition of the Africa Water Week (AWW-7) is dedicated to the theme, ‘Toward Achieving Water Security and Safely Managed Sanitation for Africa’. Convened by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Government of Gabon, AWW-7 represents a political commitment at the highest level.

Over 1,000 participants from governments, regional institutions, international partners, the private sector, the scientific community, civil society and the media from all over the world, and in particular Africa, will gather to discuss and collectively seek solutions to Africa’s water resources and sanitation challenges.

Specific topics to be addressed include: the role of infrastructure, investments and innovation in achieving water security; choices, approaches and actions for safely managed sanitation in Africa by 2030; the nexus approach to water governance and re-engineering the integrated water resources management (IWRM); and financing Africa’s SDG 6 ambitions.

Held biennially, AWW seeks to build momentum on achieving the SDGs related to water security and sanitation by 2030 and the 2025 Africa Water Vision, and actualizing Africa’s Agenda 2063.
