The 72nd session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will be held under the theme, 'Science, technology and innovation for sustainable development'. The session will comprise: a senior officials segment from 15-17 May, which will, inter alia, review the work of ESCAP's subsidiary structures and consider the draft strategic framework for 2018-2019; and a ministerial segment from 17-19 May, which will discuss policy issues, including challenges to inclusive and sustainable economic and social development in the region, and the publication of the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2016. The Special Body on Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Pacific Island Developing Countries will meet on 16 May.
