27-30 September 2022 Geneva, Geneve, Switzerland
57th session of the IPCC (IPCC 57)

The 57th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 57) will be a business Plenary session with agenda items including the work of the Ad Hoc Group on Elections and the IPCC Trust Fund Programme and Budget.

IPCC 57 was expected to focus on the approval of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) Synthesis Report, which integrates the findings of the three Working Groups and the three Special Reports already released in this assessment cycle. However, it was announced in June 2022 that the Synthesis Report, which was scheduled to be released in early October 2022, would be rescheduled for release in late 2022 or early 2023.

The IPCC is currently in its sixth assessment cycle. In addition to the AR6, during this cycle, the Panel will have produced a Methodology Report to refine the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories, and three special reports: the Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C (SR15) released in October 2018; the Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL) issued in August 2019; and the Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) released in September 2019.
