The 53rd session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 53) was expected to convene from 1-4 October 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed.
The IPCC is currently in its sixth assessment cycle. In addition to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), during this cycle, the Panel will have produced a Methodology Report to refine the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories, and three special reports: the Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C (SR15) released in October 2018; the Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL) issued in August 2019; and the Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) due for release in September 2019.
