52nd Meeting of the GEF Council

The 52nd meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council will take place from 23-25 May 2017, in Washington, DC, US. The meeting will be preceded by the GEF CSO Consultation, on 22 May. The GEF Council is the main governing body of the GEF. It is comprised of 32 Members appointed by constituencies of GEF member countries (14 from developed countries, 16 from developing countries and 2 from economies in transition). The Council, which meets twice annually, develops, adopts and evaluates the operational policies and programs for GEF-financed activities. It also reviews and approves the work program (projects submitted for approval). On the final day, the Council will convene as the Council of the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF), also at the same location.
