50th Session of the Commission on Population and Development

The 50th session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) will consider the theme, 'Changing population age structures and sustainable development'. The meeting will discuss actions for the further implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) at the global, regional and national levels, and the Secretariat's future programme of work. In addition, UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Peter Thomson intends to convene key partners for a side event on SDG 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages). The Commission is composed of 47 UN Member States elected by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the basis of geographic distribution. Since 1994, the Commission has met annually.
