7-11 October 2013 Rome, Lazio, Italy
40th Meeting of the Committee on World Food Security

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) was established in 1974 as an intergovernmental body to serve as a forum in the United Nations System for review and follow-up of policies concerning world food security, including production and physical and economic access to food. This session will feature policy round tables on ‘Biofuels and food security' and ‘Investing in smallholder agriculture for food security and nutrition'. There will also be a discussion session leading to the adoption of concrete policy recommendations on these two topics. The session will also highlight: principles for responsible agricultural investments; the agenda for action for addressing food insecurity in protracted crises; and monitoring the implementation of CFS decisions.
