The 30th session of the Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-30) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will convene in Paris, France.

Among other issues, the Assembly will address the preparation of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, and enhanced coherence, impact and future orientations of the IOC in support of the UN Decade of Ocean Science and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The IOC Assembly, composed of 150 member States, establishes IOC-UNESCO’s general policy and main lines of work. The IOC Assembly meets once per biennium, while an Executive Council meets every year.
