23-29 June 2024 Stockholm, Stockholms Lan, Sweden
26th IUFRO World Congress

The 26th World Congress of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) will convene under the theme, ‘Forests and Society Towards 2050’. The event will set the future research agenda and a roadmap for future generations in line with the Congress theme with an emphasis on the contribution of forests to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.

The event’s theme recognizes that drastic changes are expected by 2050 through climate change, population growth, globalization, and a growing world economy, all of which will put pressure on forests and their governance. 2050 is also a landmark year to achieve the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) vision of living in harmony with nature.

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and the City of Stockholm, in collaboration with Nordic and Baltic partners, are organizing the event.

The IUFRO World Congress is one of the largest global forest events and has convened every five years since 1893. The Congress brings together leading scientists and leaders to contribute and co-create a sustainable future within forestry, climate, and society, in alignment with the 2030 Agenda.
