The 26th annual meeting of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) will begin, on 21 September, with the 5th Pacific Environment Forum (PEF), which will focus on opportunities and challenges in climate change finance, particularly how members and SPREP could work together to improve access to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Adaptation Fund (AF) and other funds. It will be followed, on 22-24 September, by the 26th SPREP Meeting of Officials, which will review progress over the past year, and discuss institutional reform, the 2016 work programme and budget, the Pacific Climate Change Centre (PCCC), climate finance, a new 2016-2025 regional strategy on waste and pollution management, the role SPREP in implementation of the SAMOA Pathway and the Sustainable Development Goals, the development of the next SPREP Strategic Plan. The Meeting is also expected to announce the new SPREP Director-General.
