The 24th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM 24) of the UN Environment Management Group (EMG) will hold a “strategic discussion” on key emerging environmental issues warranting a collaborative response by the UN, including forming a UN coalition on sand and dust storms response, and engaging the UN in the environmental dimensions of China’s Green Belt and Road initiative. The meeting will also, inter alia, address coordination and collaboration on UN system-wide support for e-waste management. The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the opening of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

The SOM 24 Technical Segment will take place via audio-video conference on 17 September.
