24th Annual Session of the International Seabed Authority (First Part)

The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is an autonomous international organization established under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the 1994 Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of UNCLOS. The Authority is the organization through which States Parties to the Convention organize and control activities in the seabed, ocean floor and subsoil beyond the limits of national jurisdiction. At Annual Sessions of the International Seabed Authority, representatives from member States of the Authority meet to discuss and formulate the work of the Authority and its Secretariat.

The 24th Annual Session (ISA 24) will be held in two parts, the first in March 2018 and the second in July 2018. During the first part, the Council will meet the 5-9 March, while the Legal and Technical Commission will convene the 12-23 March. IISDRS will cover the Council meeting.

The dates for the second part are: 2-13 July for the Legal and Technical Commission; 9-12 July for the Finance Committee; 16-20 July for the Council; and 23-27 July for the Assembly.
