The 2024 Adaptation Forum will promote solutions towards achieving the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). The Forum will bring together adaptation experts from international organizations and other relevant initiatives, as well as government representatives, to discuss the adaptation-related outcomes of COP 28 and brainstorm opportunities and avenues for further collaboration to accelerate adaptation progress.

The 2024 Forum will take place over a decade after the first Adaptation Forum, held in 2013, and during a year when all three Rio Conventions will hold negotiating sessions. The Forum offers an opportunity to take stock and connect the dots between the UNFCCC process and the wider multilateral landscape. It will promote the development of solutions to achieve adaptation including through:

• Providing an overview of ongoing activities, collaboration opportunities, and synergies between relevant international processes;
• Identifying opportunities for action and collaboration to reach the targets under the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Framework for Global Climate Resilience, including opportunities for capacity building and technology transfer, finance, and knowledge exchange; and
• Showcasing the Adaptation Committee’s recent work, including the outcomes of the regional climate weeks and ongoing work on the state of adaptation action by parties.

This UNFCCC Adaptation Committee is organizing the event.
