The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is holding a two-day retreat to prepare for the third session of the UN Environment Assembly of the UNEP (UNEA-3), which takes place in December 2017. This is a closed meeting involving only bureaux members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and UNEA, regional chairs and representatives of the political groups; however all UNEA members are able to submit contributions via a dedicated website. The retreat will discuss: global environmental governance; the theme of UNEA-3 and structure of its High-level Segment; stakeholder partnerships; the outcome of the UNEA-3 ministerial segment; and progress on the sixth Global Environment Outlook report (GEO-6). The retreat is expected to produce an action plan for the 2017 Environment Assembly, which takes place in Nairobi from 4-6 December, 2017.
