2017 International Civil Society Week

Taking place three weeks after the conclusion of the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the UNFCCC, which will convene under the Fijian Presidency in Bonn, Germany, from 6-17 November 2017, the 2017 International Civil Society Week (ICSW) will bring together civil society leaders from around the world to review COP 23 outcomes, plan civil society engagement in implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and build solidarity among social and climate justice movements.

Organized by CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, in partnership with the Pacific Islands Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (PIANGO), the conference will convene under the theme is ‘Our Planet, Our Struggles, Our Future.’ The programme includes a youth assembly, numerous partner-led side events, a civil society fair, immersive cultural experiences, the CIVICUS World Assembly and the Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards.
