The 17th session of the General Conference of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will convene under the theme ‘Partnering for impact – achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’. UNIDO views inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) as a central issue in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), as well as the targets and indicators underpinning the other 16 SDGs. The conference will address, inter alia, UNIDO’s role in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and its activities related to: energy and the environment; agribusiness, trade capacity building and job creation; and the Vienna Ministerial Declaration for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), among other issues.
The LDC Ministerial Conference 2017 will take place immediately before the General Conference, from 23-24 November.
